Venus has regained significant attention from planetary scientists following the selection of three new missions in 2021: EnVision (ESA), DAVINCI+ (NASA), and VERITAS (NASA), As a substantial and easily accessible target for comparative planetology, Venus offers valuable insights into the diverse evolution of Earth-sized planets and thus the habitability of terrestrial planets, Its climate system, characterized by thick, dry and extreme conditions, and concentrated sulfuric acid clouds represents one of the potential fates of Earth, Previous missions, such as Venus Express (ESA) and Akatsuki (JAXA), have documented substantial spacial and temporal variabilities in the Venus atmosphere, providing a crucial window into its interior dynamics. Future missions will enhance our understanding of these variabilities with high-resolution instruments and synergistic science. In this talk, I will summarize the observed atmospheric variabilities, particularly those related to dynamics, clouds, chemistry, and volcanism. I will discuss how we can leverage current observations and theoretical frameworks, for example, a 3D chemistry General-Circulation Model, to better understand Venus's present state and even constrain its enigmatic past.My research efforts are establishing a comprehensive framework for understanding the Venus climate and its evolution, while addressing the urgent needs of the three future missions scheduled for launch within a decade.
