Research Overview:

Photoelectrons are an important population of a planetary upper atmosphere that plays a crucial role in ionization, heating, radiation, and escape. With the aid of both in-situ measurements and kinetic simulations, Dr. Cao's current research activities focus on the production, loss and transport of photoelectrons in planetary ionospheres and their aeronomical consequences.
