Successive postgraduate and doctoral programs of study/ bachelor-straight-to-doctorate students course setting
The training goals of postgraduate students in geophysics are: to cultivate outstanding talents in geoscience and its related fields who possess solid basic professional and theoretical knowledge, systematically master fundamental scientific research skills and scientific thinking, can independently engage in scientific research activities and produce innovative achievements within their disciplinary field. The development trend of contemporary geoscience is the interdisciplinary integration of multiple disciplines, and a single discipline can hardly address major scientific problems such as resources, environment and disasters facing humanity. In accordance with the characteristics of geoscience development and the training requirements for the primary and secondary disciplines of geophysics, postgraduate students under each research direction shall establish a sound theoretical foundation in the field of geophysics, keep abreast of frontier research progress within the discipline, and be capable of comprehensively analyzing and reflecting on existing problems in disciplinary development as well as potential breakthrough directions in the future. In addition to mastering the theoretical basis, research methods and practical operation abilities of core courses in this discipline, they must also take basic courses related to geology, understand the principles and main methods of relevant disciplines, deliver innovative research outputs in their professional field, and strive to become interdisciplinary professionals with solid foundational knowledge and strong practical capabilities.
