   “The Earth's net energy balance drives changes in the Earth's climate system, allowing us to ask the question: "is there more energy entering the system than going out?" Answering this question has become possible in the last 15 years through advances in heat measurements of the land and upper ocean. We now know that the Earth has more energy entering than radiated to space.    

   This energy imbalance drives global warming and results in non-linear impacts on the world's great ice sheets - with implications for sea level rise and coastal security.

   This talk will present the latest data pertaining to the Earth's energy imbalance and its implications for ice dynamics and tipping points.”
