The School of Atmospheric Sciences has an energetic and prestigious faculty team with 30 members at present, including 13 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 2 Senior Engineers, 4 Lecturers, 6 full-time researchers and postdoctors. In the team there are one Distinguished Professor of the China National "Thousand Talents Plan" Program, two Distinguished Professors of “Changjiang Scholar” of the Ministry of Education, two Outstanding Scholars of the Natural Science Foundation of China, one Distinguished Young Scholar of the foundation, and one Principal Scientist of the State Key Scientific Research Plan of China.
The school of Atmosphere Sciences has teachers’ offices, teaching and researching sites which cover about 8,000 square meters overall at present and has complete experimental teaching center and etcetera. Meanwhile, an all-round Atmosphere Sciences Building that possesses more than 50,000 square meters in the Zhuhai Campus is under construction and it is expected to come into service in 2018.
National Supercomputer Centre in Guangzhou settles in Sun Yat-sen University, which is equipped with the “Tianhe No.2”. It ranks the first among the published TOP 500 of global supercomputer which is the fastest supercomputer in the world at present. Consequently, it provide strong technical support for the rapid development of School of Atmosphere Sciences.
